 JUICING VS. BLENDING ❥➥❥ WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

Which is better: juicing or blending? Does one offer more health benefits than the other? Juices and smoothies both play an important role in any wellness program and we discuss the benefits of each in the movies, "Food Matters" and "Hungry For Change". We believe that both juicing and blending are very beneficial, but in different ways. Here is a shortcomparison that explains the differences between the two as well as some of the specific benefits of each.

What’s The Difference?

JUICING:

Juicing is a process which extracts water and nutrients from produce and discards the indigestible fiber.
Without all the fiber, your digestive system doesn’t have to work as hard to break down the food and absorb the nutrients. In fact, it makes the nutrients more readily available to the body in much larger quantities than if you were to eat the fruits and vegetables whole.

This is especially helpful if you have a sensitive digestive system or illness that inhibits your body from processing fiber. The fiber in produce helps slow down the digestive process and provides a steady release of nutrients into the blood stream. Jason Vale calls juicing "A nutrient express!"

Freshly squeezed vegetable juices form part of most healing and detoxification programs because they are so nutrient rich and nourish and restore the body at a cellular level.

A word of caution: When you remove the fiber from the produce, the liquid juice is absorbed into your blood stream quickly. If you are only juicing fruits, this would cause a rapid spike in blood sugar and unstable blood sugar levels can lead to mood swings, energy loss, memory problems and more!

Fiber is also filling and without fiber in the juice, some people tend to get hungry again quickly.

BLENDING:

Unlike juices, smoothies consist of the entire entire fruit or vegetable, skin and all and contain all of the fiber from the vegetables.

However, the blending process breaks the fibre apart (which makes the fruit and vegetables easier to digest ) but also helps create a slow, even release of nutrients into the blood stream and avoids blood sugar spikes. Smoothies tend to be more filling, because of the fiber, and generally faster to make than juice, so they can be great to drink first thing in the morning as your breakfast, or for snacks throughout the day.

By including the fiber in your smoothie, the volume will increase. Also, you can pack more servings of fruits and veggies into a single serving of juice than you can into a smoothie.

Juicing and Blending Rules
1. It’s best not to combine fruits and vegetables (unless it’s apple). This can affect how well your digestive enzymes function.

This doesn’t seem to matter too much in green juices and smoothies, but vegetables like carrots, beetroots, broccoli and zucchini don’t combine well with fruit due to their high starch content. In his book Food Combining Made Easy, Dr. Herbert Shelton explains that starchy foods have to be eaten alone because starches are digested with enzymes different from those used for any other food group. Combining starchy foods with fruit may cause fermentation and gas. However, Dr. Shelton found that green leafy veggies combine well with pretty much everything.

2. Try to drink your juice or smoothie straight away. After 15 minutes, light and air will destroy much of the nutrients. If you can’t drink it straight away, transfer to a dark airtight container until you’re ready.

Using The Right Equipment
To get the most benefit from your juices and smoothies, it’s important to use the right equipment. Invest in a good-quality juicer. Cheaper, centrifugal juicers introduce heat and oxygen and destroy the enzymes and nutrients in your fruits and vegetables. While it may cost you a bit more initially, a premium cold-press juicer will produce a superior-quality juice and allow you to extract more from your fruit and vegetables, saving expense in the long-term.
The machines themselves will also generally last longer. In contrast to the rough extraction of centrifugal juicers, mastication or cold-press juicers compress fruit and vegetables to ‘squeeze’ out their juice.

The same goes for a blender. You want a blender that is gentle on your produce and doesn’t heat up the enzymes as it’s pulling apart the fibres. We spend money on gadgets, clothes, restaurants and other luxuries so, if you can afford it, investing in your health by buying a quality juicer or blender is totally worth it.

 Eggplant Nuggets ❥➥❥ Recipe serves 4 (Recipe is: GLUTEN FREE, REFINED SUGAR FREE, DAIRY FREE, SOY FREE)

Ingredients:
3 large eggplants
4 eggs (vegans can use olive oil or coconut oil mixed with honey to make the nugget coating stick to the eggplant)
3 cups of Almonds (or use hemp seeds as an alternative)
1/2 tablespoons of Turmeric
3 tablespoons of Himalayan Salt
1 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper (more if you want it spicy)
Extra virgin Coconut Oil for cooking

Action:
1. Chop the egg plant into cubes for the nuggets
2. In a bowl whisk the eggs. Drop the eggplant cubes into the egg and let it soak
3. Mix the turmeric, almonds, cayenne pepper and himalayan salt in a blender until you have a smooth crumbly consistency
4. Place one eggplant cube at a time into the spice coating mix and cover well. Do this with all of them
5. In a fry pan heat the oil. When it is hot and sizzling add the eggplant nuggets to the pan and let it cook until the outside is a crunchy golden brown
6. Serve with TED chips, wedges, sweet potato fries or tomato sauce! Whatever else you would like to eat it with

Health benefits of green juice ❥➥❥ and the green drink Dr. Mehmet Oz swears by! This "green drink" is high in fiber, low-calorie and rich in vitamins. You can make this in a low speed juicer or combine all ingredients in blender to include the fiber:

2 cups Spinach
2 cups Cucumber
1 head of Celery
1/2 inch of teaspoon of ginger root
1 bunch parsley
2 Apples
1 Lime
1/2 Lemon

Aşa, şi?!
Sunt vreo şase. Cinci băieţi si-o fată. Doi dintre ei au benoacle. "Feţe de tocilari", aşa gîndeşte lumea despre ei! Plus vreo doi-trei profesori, dintr-ăia de au 15-şpe milioane de lei vechi si halesc conserve în deplasările peste graniţă, ca să pună deoparte diurna şi s-o utilizeze la "trei stele", ultra-all inclusive, în Grecia, alături de soţia sa, o "mîhnită" de profă de biologie.
La aeroport nu-i bagă nimeni în seamă, dar deasupra capului, unul dintre dascăli ţine o tăblie pe care scrie:"România". Aeroportul se întrebă: "Ce e, mă, cu amărîţii ăştia?" Au nişte tricouri galbene pe ei, iar la gît le atîrnă medalii. La unii, de aur. "Dacă sînt sportivi, de ce nu e ciorchinele de camere TV pe ei?" continuă întrebările. Aaaa, uite, au şi-un steag. Un tricolor! Cînd îl afişează, o fac cu mîndrie. "Bă, esti nebun?! Ăştia chiar mai cred în chestia asta cu reprezentarea cu cinste a ţării, cu... Cine sînt?" Da, chiar aşa, cine sînt de nu-i bagă nimeni în seamă, în afară de rude?

1. Omer Cerrahoglu - Primul cu benoacle. Clasa a XI-a, vine din Maramu', din Baia Mare. Avea 14 ani cand cucerea prima medalie de aur, la Bremen , Germania , în 2009. N-a vrut să dezamăgească, aşa că acum a venit tot cu cel mai preţios metal la gît.

2. Radu Bumbăcea - Fără benoacle. A luat - culmea nesimţirii! - BAC-ul, la "Tudor Vianu", in Bucureşti. Aur la Amsterdam şi în Kazahstan. Adoră literatura, ştiinţele si-a fost, deja, acceptat la Cambridge . Pentru cei care n-au timp să caute pe Google, băieţii de aici au pornit la drum Universitatea în 1209, cam pe vremea cînd noi ne apucam de cnezate si voievodate.

3. Ioana Tamaş - la 18 ani a primit premiu pentru întreaga activitate. Singura fată din lot - fără nici o legătură cu fotbalistul! De cînd era în şcoala generală, la Nr. 79, rupea pe matematică. În primăvară a primit premiul "Laurenţiu Panaitopol" pentru întreaga activitate de olimpic pe parcursul şcolii! "Poftiiiim???!!! N-are nici 20-j de ani şi primeşte diplome pentru "întreaga activitate"?! A, şi ea are benoacle. Unii poartă ochelari din cauza jocurilor pe calculator sau Wii. Ei, pentru c-au citit prea multe cărţi.

4. Tavi Drăgoi - E pasionat de chitară, informatică şi electronică. A luat doar "argint", dar a fost acceptat, deja, la Harvard! Completare. "Harvard" desemnează o Universitate din SUA, fondată la 1636, cu 140 înainte ca americanii să se pună pe făurit state. Pur statistic, pe aici au trecut 75 de omuleţi care au luat premiul Nobel la diferite discipline!

5. Alt benoclist, Fane (Ştefan) Spătaru, from Alexandria - atenţie, Alexandria de Teleorman, nu de Egipt! S-a"încălzit" pe plan local, la Balcaniada din Turcia, de unde a venit cu aur. Acum a coborît o treaptă, a luat doar argint, dar e mezinul trupei, are şanse.

6. Fane (Ştefan) Ivanovici - Vine din Bacău . Cei mai buni prieteni ai lui? Newton, L'Hospital, Gauss...

7. Radu Gologan - e coordonatorul. Prof în Poli, în Bucuresti. 10 ani ca preşedinte al Comisiei Naţionale a Olimpiadei de Matematică.40 de articole de cercetare, peste 30 didactice, cărţi, bla-bla-bla. Le-a vorbit unor studenţi din Rusia, Franţa, SUA, Germania .

În concluzie, nişte tocilari! Iată Delegatia României participantă la Olimpiada Internaţională de Matematică. Locul 1 pe Europa şi locul 10 în lume (din 100 de ţări, într-un clasament neoficial). Două medalii de aur luate în Argentina , la Mar del Plata, la cea de-a 53-a ediţie. Pe cine interesează, însă, o astfel de ştire? În ţară avem 120.000 de nebacalaureaţi. "Pacyno" se dă cu gel cînd merge să afle rezultatele la BAC. La Iaşi , de trei ani, la acelaşi liceu, NIMENI n-a luat examenul. Iar noi vorbim despre nişte puşti de 16-18 ani care uimesc lumea! Gata, şi aşa povestea e cam lungă...

Apropo, aţi aflat că nea Gigi (asta vara) s-a suit pe maşină şi-a dirijat circulaţia, la trei dimineaţa, în Mamaia? Sau ca Salam si Adrian Copilu' Minune au mai multi fani (si ai multi bani) decat aveau George Enescu, Eminescu si Brancusi, la un loc?!
